THE IKE GROUP

 THE DIVA ATTRIBUTION PROGRAM.

The Ike Group has created a new Ike catalog system which incorporates all the established and all the new Ike Varieties and interesting die-state coins.  We call these Ikes “DIVA’s”, Designated Ike Varieties.

With our DIVA Attribution Program, the Ike Group will be attributing all Ikes and conveying detailed information about each one, all the interesting information:

-         TPG holdered Ikes will receive a small, brilliant, holographic, red oval sticker with “DIVA” in black letters, a detailed Attribution Report and a laminated Report Summary Card sized to fit neatly behind the TPG holder in your holder storage box.  Both the detailed and the summary report will be linked by holder number (see photo below).

-         Submitted raw Ikes will be placed in a new cardboard holder with its own DIVA Attribution number and the same brilliant Red DIVA sticker and housed with its summary report card in a heat-sealed flip.   A detailed Attribution Report will also be issued tied into the holder number.  The Report and summary card will also convey our Grade (we will be adding a “GRADING IKES” topic on our Forum and adding an Article on our approach to grading Ike:  our grading is ultimately an interactive process so you and others will know not only how your Ike grades but how that grade was arrived at).

You can print out the forms for submitting Holdered Ikes and Raw Ikes for DIVA Attribution by clicking on the proper tab(s) on the DIVA Home Page.  This takes you to the “web format” version which may look strange on your screen but when you Print it, you will get the four pages as designed and properly paginated.

The three Forms convey information from submitter to attributor and back as we have purposefully created an interactive format.  No black box operations here and that’s a promise.

You have your choice of the three Ike Group members who are serving as attributors:  their email addresses are included on the Submission Forms to facilitate communication.  Rob Ezerman, one of the attributors, can also provide high-quality photographs of any of your Ikes at nominal cost.

Why is the Ike Group going to all this trouble?

-         Because none of the TPGs seem in any hurry to designate all the features of a given Ike and don’t have room on their tags even if they wanted to.

-         Because some important TPGs refuse to attribute even important Ike Design Varieties (for example, PCGS and NGC so far refuse to attribute the remarkable and historically important Friendly Eagle Variety and none of the TPG’s are attributing specific die-clash images).

-         TPG’s will not attribute new varieties in established series until there is a ground-swell of demand.  Frankly, this gives the market makers time to get out in front of the market.  The Ike Group wants to attribute new Ike varieties as we report them in peer-accepted publications so Ike collectors have the earliest opportunity to gather their specimens.

Here’s an example of how the IKE GROUP’s DIVA Attribution System could work for you.  Say you have an Ike with these features:  a die abrasion peg leg with “Far Doubled Talon Heads”, and a mismatched reverse that has a strong single Jaw Line and single Moon Line.  All that information and more will be conveyed to you via the signed and dated Attribution Report Form and laminated Summary Report Card by the attributing member of the Ike Group you choose.

If you think that same Ike is a Doubled Die Obverse, you can raise that question on the submission form and the attributor will convey his best judgment via his Report.  If you like, you can email the attributor and engage in a discussion before and while he is working on your Ike(s):  we want to learn from you and from your Ikes as much as we hope to teach and stimulate interest in Ikes through accurate attributions.

If you are enthusiastic and fearless, print the submission form, and have at it!  Please email your chosen IKE GROUP attributor before shipping and of course if you have questions.  We will do our best to exceed your expectations
